Aregua Poty: land of art and strawberry

A un poco más de 30 Kms. de Asunción se encuentra la Expo Frutilla, que cada año congrega a los sacrificados labriegos durante los meses de Agosto y Setiembre, de manera a que puedan ofrecer sus productos basados en la mencionada fruta. Generalmente alrededor de 150 familias o más, son beneficiadas con esta actividad que les permite el sustento mediante la recolección, venta y producción de derivados de la frutilla. El Domingo 5 de Agosto habíamos ido con mi amigo John -que lo recordarán de historias anteriores- a recorrer el Festival de la Frutilla, que este año cumple su tercera edición. La misma cierra el día 23 de setiembre así que quien tenga intención de ir y conseguir la fruta y/u otros productos derivados, en buena cantidad y calidad, no se olvide de hacerlo en la expo-frutilla. A diferencia del año pasado, donde el triste pasar y acecho de la sequía dejaba frutillas con poco desarrollo, tamaño y dulzura; esta vez los frutos tuvieron suficientes lluvias y condiciones para crecer bien. De igual modo, es de altísima prioridad necesaria la instalación de sistemas de riego mucho mejores que los actuales, de manera a los compatriotas que trabajan en el sembrado, cuidado y recolección de esta hermosa fruta, puedan obtener buenas ganancias y crear un mercado competitivo en todo nuestro territorio. Además de la expo frutilla, pudimos disfrutar de un almuerzo en un copetín ubicado en una de las avenidas principales, donde habían otros con un estilo similar, que le daban un aire a los cafés de San Telmo (Buenos Aires, y sin ánimos de hacer controversia). Considero que las viejas construcciones que tienen sus famosos "corredor jeré" al costado de la avenida le dan el toque especial y atractivo y los hacen más que preparados para el turismo, porque Aregua además de su expo-frutilla todo el año es una meca de arte y artistas que ofrecen sus creaciones. Vale la pena un fin de semana pegarse una vuelta por Aregua y tomar un café o un almuerzo en una de estas casonas que están hermosamente ambientadas y poseen buena atención. Ya me imagino en unos años a los jóvenes trilingües atendiendo a turistas de cualquier parte del mundo. Mientras tanto, volvamos al presente y disfrutemos de este delirio rojo.

A little over 30 km from Asunción there is the "Strawberry fruit Expo", which annually brings together the slaughtered peasants during the months of August and September, so they can offer their products based on such fruit. Similarly, high priority is necessary to install irrigation systems far superior to the current, so the fellow working in the fields, care and collection of this beautiful fruit, can get good profits and create a competitive market throughout our territory. In addition to the expo strawberry, we enjoyed lunch at a snack bar located in one of the main avenues, where there were others with a similar style -which gave them an air of San Telmo's cafes (Buenos Aires, and no intention of making dispute)-. I believe that the old buildings that have their famous "Corredor Jere" (Long Gallery) on the side of the street give a special touch and make them more attractive and prepared for tourism, because Aregua in addition to its expo-strawberry is a mecca of art and artists that offer their creations. Worth a weekend Aregua stick around and have coffee or lunch in one of these houses that are beautifully acclimated and have good care. I imagine in a few years young trilingual attending tourists from all over the world. Meanwhile, back to the present and enjoy this "red delirium".

15:08 - Llegamos al kilómetro 32, en la ruta que va de Aregua a Ypacarai y donde se realiza la Expo Frutilla. Lo ideal sería algún policía de tránsito o carteles que indiquen la reducción de la velocidad.

15:09 - La conformación de la Expo Frutilla es muy simple pero eso no le quita ser coqueta. Con un escenario en el medio -que ofrece música y los domingos luego de las 5 de la tarde números artísticos- las "casillas" están ubicadas a su izquierda y derecha. Familias enteras vienen exclusivamente para saborear helados, tortas, dulces y otros productos derivados de la frutilla.

Existe una interesante gama de productos derivados de la frutilla, que se ofrecen en la Expo. Entre los más solicitados el día domingo fueron los helados debido al calor, pero también hay dulces, jalea, licor y tortas, entre otras cosas.

La Expo-Frutilla es la ocasión ideal para encontrar esos derivados de esta noble fruta, que mencioné antes. Los precios son bastante accesibles y la atención alegre y jovial de las personas le dan un valor agregado importante a la actividad. De esa manera, uno puede realizar un lindo paseo por una hermosa ciudad como es Aregua y degustar las delicias que se venden en los puestos. Nosotros probamos una torta de chocolate, dulce de leche y trozos de frutilla que hubiese sido un pecado no hacerlo.

Como materia pendiente, prometo hacer una visita en los nuevos locales de Aregua que tienen una alta artesanía mucho más refinada y vanguardista, a diferencia de la artesanía particular y colorida que se encuentra en la avenida principal.

17:02 - Un atardecer fantástico nos desvió de nuestro regreso, y tomamos el camino que nace al final de Ñu Guazú y en el "Comite Olimpico Paraguayo". En la entrada del lugar -donde más adelante está el Autódromo-, encontramos este Apere'a (una especie de Cobayo salvaje), que fácilmente me recuerda los caminos del Chaco, donde aún la naturaleza se contiene, sólo que en reducida cantidad.

17:05 - Esta puesta de sol única para nosotros era el perfecto broche de despedida de una "fructífera" visita a la ciudad de Aregua, donde el tiempo se comportó con un día maravilloso y permitió que los sacrificados recolectores y vendedores de frutilla puedan "hacer su Agosto"; pero también sirvió para recordarnos que estos mismos rayos solares junto con otros elementos permiten el buen crecimiento de esas frutas. Se apaga el motor y observamos estos minutos antes que el sol vuelva a dejarse ver desde atrás de las nubes.

Luego retomaremos la Avenida Aviadores del Chaco esperando encontrar algún par de cosas interesantes que fotografiar, en el regreso de nuestra visita a Aregua.

Pero no, la gente a veces no tiene tiempo para despegar la vista del semáforo, no tiene tiempo para dejarse llevar por estas cosas simples, aunque yo considero que lo simple guarda lo grande.
