| Visit my previous POSTs about the Bicentennial in: "Welcome, Bicentennial's Year!", "Bicentennial Fever" y "Bicentennial: 12/13th of May". The party keep going throughout the country, and today was one of the most emotional moments where thousands of compatriots made the Military Parade of the Reserve and the Police. Despite the heavy rain that greeted us in the morning -that only delayed the event- the people still under the rain, could be present on Avenida Mariscal Lopez to witness to his relatives and friends marching with honor. In recent months, older men, middle-aged and young people who have finished military service, returned to wear uniforms, they returned to feel in their skins the memory of those times of the weekly and monthly captive, who lived in the closing of youth and the welcome of the adulthood. Many preparations, rehearsals, reunions with old comrades, but unlike when we were in service with the pressure and feelings of being displaced from our homes, this time for all these months, were of joy, in a much more enjoyable way and maintaining respect to the hierarchy, as we were taught. Congratulations to all those reservists who proudly paraded in this great celebration for the 200 years of independence of our country. As you see, I'm taking trips this year, especially on weekends, and that is the reason because I could not join and participate, if I did it, I couldn't be sharing these pictures for you. |
12:00 - Parade of the vehicles Cascavel EE-09, from the Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Paraguayan Army.

The Air Force.
12:30 - Then came the turn of the reservists, who was the group most expected by the families since it was civilians who joined in the past the military service, and for months had trials for this day. Led this "battalion", the oldest reservists, among them Vice President of the country, Mr. Federico Franco.
12:31 - The emotional highlight of the parade of reservists, was when appeared the Captain Don Fernando Silva, 101-year-old ex-combatant in the Chaco War. He paraded remembering the last time he did in 1935 at the end of the war, and now again with full honors medals bearing his Cruz del Defensor, the Cruz del Chaco, the Medal of Boqueron, among others, the medal of Grand Master of the Order of Simon Bolivar, the highest distinction awarded by the Government of Bolivia to their opponents.
Families and also present were thrilled with the arrival of the older reservists, many of them grandparents or parents, who marched the 600 meters of parade with great pride and fervor, while singing the military hymns.
A bubble fly slowly over the reservists parade, reminding me that we are in peace time with foreign countries, but not with our own countrymen.
12:46 - Closing the military parade, the last groups belonging to the National Police. Here the brand new women graduates from the Police Academy.

The Banco Nacional de Fomento, reflected in a puddle of water formed by rain in the morning.
The Mercado Guasu was lively with music from the Banda Purory.
15:39 - A consistent picture of this days, the Paraguayan flag which flew incessantly in all activities.
For many it was not all to enjoy the festivities, but work. Several traders took advantage of the crowded to sell their products allegorical to Paraguay and the Bicentennial.
The National Police made a great display to maintain security and order.
16:31 - Many people watch the sailboats and large warships anchored in the Bay of Asuncion, from the Parque Litoral. The Uruguayan coastal patrol boat, the ROU 10 "Cologne", performed tactical maneuvers in front of the people.
The drizzle begain one more time, but still thousands of people took to visit the Patrol ship P04 Teniente Fariña, of the Paraguayan Navy. On this patrol, I traveled in 1997 to Isla Marina during the CIMEFOR, where we make trial of attacks with real weapons in a military beach.
The Parque Litoral was adorned with an artistic intervention of more than 50 contemporary artists who presented 100 flags inspired by the national flag.
17:16 - The Bay is illuminated with the lights of the warships and yachts in the late afternoon. It's time to retire to my apartment to download photos and upload battery to return to this place and participate in the mapping to be held at the Palacio de López.
